PRIVACY POLICY

How Local Roots handles personal information.

Effective date: August 6, 2026 · Version: 2026-08-06

This Privacy Policy explains how Local Roots collects, uses, discloses, retains and protects personal information when people use the directory or apply to list a business. Local Roots introduces shoppers to independent sellers; it does not process purchases or payments.

Information we collect

When a seller applies, we collect the contact person’s name, email address and phone number; business and product information; the public business or stand address; an uploaded photo; the submission date and review status; and a record of agreement to this Privacy Policy.

Our hosting service may also process basic technical information such as IP address, browser or device information, request logs, page views and security information needed to operate, protect and measure the Site.

What is public and what remains private

If a listing is approved, the business name, category, products, description, website or social page, hours, restocking information, business photo, public business address and map location may be displayed publicly.

The contact person’s name, phone number and email address are not displayed publicly. They are available only to authorized Local Roots administrators and service providers that need the information to host, secure, maintain or support the directory.

How we use information

Customer followers and inventory alerts

When a customer saves a business, Local Roots stores the customer’s email address and saved-business selection. This information belongs to and is managed by Local Roots. It is not disclosed to the saved business or its vendor. Vendors may request an inventory announcement, but Local Roots reviews the update and sends any resulting message on its own behalf. Customers may unsubscribe from alerts.

How information may be disclosed

Local Roots does not sell personal information and does not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Information may be disclosed to hosting, storage, mapping, security and technical service providers solely as needed to operate the Site; to professional advisers; to government authorities when legally required; or in connection with a lawful transfer of the business.

Retention and security

We retain application and listing information for as long as reasonably necessary to review and manage listings, maintain business records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and whether a state privacy law applies to Local Roots, you may have rights to know or access personal information, correct inaccuracies, delete information, obtain a portable copy, opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising or profiling, limit certain uses of sensitive data, and appeal a denied request. Local Roots does not currently sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising or qualifying profiling.

To request access, correction or deletion, email rglick@glickmgmt.com with “Local Roots Privacy Request” in the subject line. We may verify your identity and authority before completing a request. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law. We will not unlawfully discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right.

Children

Local Roots is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. Business applicants must be at least 18 years old or have legal authority to submit the listing.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the directory, service providers or laws change. The revised policy will show a new effective date. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to rglick@glickmgmt.com.
